How would you like to describe your company?

VSI Viscount designs the MESH Security Operating Platform.  Unlike traditional card reader systems, VSI uses digital IP-based readers that bypass the need for control panels.  We write the user management software and drivers for these new readers, including HID¡¯s Edge and Securakey¡¯s ETAG.  These systems save enormously on hardware, cable and labor and are much simpler to manage through a Web browser.

Please explain the current Canada¡¯s market conditions of electronic door control access systems.  And what are your marketing strategies to hold a dominant position in the Canada¡¯s security market?

The industry is expanding both in Canada and internationally.  Our main market focus is the U.S.A.  The electronic door industry is entering an era of exciting change as door control panels are made obsolete by IP devices.  As the leaders in software management for these devices, our business is expanding rapidly as large commercial enterprises and government agencies begin their migration strategies to eliminate panels.  We market through trade shows and publications and also have business to business consultants who call on large end users.

How do you see the global access control market for the next 5 years?  What are your strengths to penetrate the global market this year?

We see electronic door security will be revolutionized by IP devices within 5 years.  The IP devices may be RFID or biometric.  Control panels will be replaced by readers running on networks with local or server-based processing.  Large enterprises will have a single server set centrally managing readers on a global basis.  Software programming will continue to migrate to a Web platform.  As devices migrate to IP, the difference between IP cameras, IP readers and IP intercom systems will also blur and the next generation of management systems will be designed to manage an array of systems.

Please introduce distribution network for your products around the world.

VSI sells to a variety of integrators around the world.  Over 1,000 systems are now in place in Europe, Asia, and North America.
