Taylor and his associates went to work on the challenge, and created the StopperⓡII, a cover to help prevent false fire alarms. This resulted in a new company known as Safety Technology International, Inc. (STI). Margie Gobler, CEO of STI, talks about the companys history and vision.

What are some of the important projects you have been involved in the recent past?

We are continuously trying to help stop false fire alarms around the world with our innovative protective covers. STI has also developed many useful covers for other important safety equipment. A few examples of these are:

1) Mini StopperⓡII with horn, which helps protect smaller sized devices against vandalism and damage. When the cover is lifted, a 105 dB horn emits, drawing immediate attention to the area and helping prevent a false alarm.

2) AED Protective Cabinet, a clear polycarbonate cover with alarm/strobe, to help protect AED units displayed in public or unsupervised areas. The cover allows units to be highly visible when needed for an emergency, while protecting against vandalism, damage and theft.

3) Steel Web Stoppersⓡ, which help protect mini smoke detectors. They are constructed of 9-guage steel wire with corrosion resistant polyester coating or 9-guage steel wire. They are designed to take tough knocks in stride while protecting your smoke detectors from abuse.

4) The new, super tough, see through Polycarbonate Protective Cabinet with Air Conditioner, which allows fire alarm control panels to be protected from extreme temperatures. To help maintain the correct range of operating temperatures, the air conditioning unit cycles as required and a fan runs continuously to sustain a uniform temperature inside the enclosure.

What are your chief product innovations you are focusing on?

We keep our focus on further protecting against false fire alarms around the world and helping protect important fire and security devices. A few products under development to help reach this goal are:

1) A Polycarbonate Protective Cabinet with an air conditioner/heater unit, which will allow electronic devices to be protected from extreme hot or cold temperatures.

2) Our line of wire cages designed to help protect fluorescent lights and emergency exit signs from vandalism and damage. Also, STI can make custom wire guards in white, red or stainless steel for larger quantity orders to meet customer? individual needs.

3) ReSet Call Point, a unique switch that mimics the feel of breaking glass, while offering the user the benefits and environmental advantages of a resettable operating element. This provides an ideal solution for areas that suffer from a high number of false activations.
