The Imager is based on Xytrans¡¯ ultra-sensitive, patented, 100 GHz 32- pixel passive sensor, and includes real-time automatic target detection capability. The system safely scans a person from fifteen feet and can pinpoint the location of concealed objects while protecting personal privacy. The Imager is ideally suited to cost-effectively enhance security in a variety of public and commercial areas, such as airports, government buildings, schools, sporting and entertainment venues, office buildings, packaging and distribution centers, mass transit systems, and military checkpoints.
"Xytrans has been a leader in the development of MMW subsystems and systems, including transceivers and radars for weapons applications, for several years. Following on our success shipping sensor subsystems in high volume, the Imager is the first in a series of screening systems we expect to announce this year," said Jim Young, Xytrans President and CEO. Xytrans is already working with its first launch customer and is seeking distribution partners and additional launch customers.
MMW frequencies readily penetrate clothing making it possible to see concealed objects. All natural and man-made objects emit, and reflect, different levels of electromagnetic energy at various frequencies. The system uses these properties to detect hidden objects.
