Unfortunately, some in Los Angeles have a habit of deadly New Year’s celebrations:  firing off guns in the air to mark the occasion.  Recently, LA County Sheriff Baca, backed by Police Chief Bratton, held a news conference to discourage this dangerous practice by demonstrating a new, highly-promising security technology.

DVTel’s Latitude Network Video management system is integrated with a Sentri Gunshot Detection system that upon alarm automatically directs surveillance cameras to the area of gunshots.  Police personnel can then investigate in real time -- using both video and by deploying to the scene -- in an effort to cut down on this life-threatening celebration and to reduce gun violence every day of the year.
