"Safe, well-maintained airports are essential to the success of Pennsylvanias thriving aviation industry," Biehler said. "Our airports generate billions of dollars in economic activity and provide jobs for thousands of Pennsylvanians."
Biehler said the funds will be used for a variety of projects, including runway and taxiway rehabilitation, airport development planning, acquisition of snow removal equipment and maintenance.
The grants are administered by PennDOTs Bureau of Aviation and are completely funded by revenue from Pennsylvanias jet fuel tax. The state grants leverage more than $1.4 million in local matching funds.
