A special silver-based material, using BioCote® silver anti-microbial technology, is embedded into the plastics used to create the platens on the biometric hand geometry units, providing a hygienic finish that resists bacterial degradation and reduces bacteria levels on the reader’s surface.

“This high-tech material reduces a concern of some people when it comes to using hand geometry biometrics,” reports Jon Mooney, general manager of the biometrics unit for Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies.  “Our hand readers are now specifically designed with bacteria reduction in mind.”
