IQinVision receives 2007 Frost & Sullivan Award for technology excellence

IQinVision, market leader in high performance megapixel network cameras, smart IP cameras, and network video recording systems, today announced that it has received another Frost and Sullivan award, the 2007 North American Excellence in Technology Award in the field of Internet protocol (IP)-based video surveillance.

IQinVision received the award for the IQeye multi-megapixel line of network cameras.  The most recent addition to this award-winning line is the 5-megapixel IQeye day/night camera, which expands the coverage area to 16 times that of CCTV cameras and is suitable for 360 degrees immersive video applications.

Frost & Sullivan¡¯s Excellence in Technology Award is bestowed upon the company that has pioneered the development and introduction of an innovative technology into the market; a technology that has either impacted or has the potential to impact several market sectors. It also recognizes the overall technical excellence of a company and its commitment towards technology innovation.

Frost & Sullivan, in a statement, commented about IQinVision¡¯s award, ¡°In recognition of its nine-year track record of delivering unparalleled IP video resolution for security, surveillance, industrial, scientific, remote management, and web-attraction applications, Frost & Sullivan honors IQinVision with the Excellence in Technology Award. IQinVision is all set to cash in on its expertise in IP video in the coming years with a majority of new camera installations expected to be all IP by mid 2008.¡±

One important advantage of IQinVisions multi-megapixel cameras for IP-based surveillance is the image quality, which is far superior to traditional analog CCTV and lower resolution digital image resolutions such as D1 and 4CIF. A one megapixel IQeye network camera can cover four times the area covered by traditional CCTV cameras at the same resolution.  This significant cost advantage is fueling the accelerated migration to megapixel technology from CCTV systems. The 5-megapixel IQeye is built on IQinVision¡¯s stable, proprietary image processing operating system that has been in use for over 15 years and has been deployed in millions of network devices.

Another key differentiator of the IQeye is the use of a complimentary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) progressive image scanner.  This is a very low-power consumption technology that enables all IQeye cameras to be Powered-Over- Ethernet (POE) and also delivers high quality images in high-speed applications like traffic and transportation.

¡°We are very pleased to be recognized again by Frost & Sullivan for our leadership in megapixel and smart network camera technology,¡± said Pete DeAngelis, IQinVision President and CEO.  ¡°The explosive growth of megapixel technology in the video surveillance market has validated our longstanding strategy:  to deliver a wide range of highly differentiated IP network products that are designed for stability and reliability to operate in the most demanding applications and conditions.¡±
