Thermal imaging camera for security and surveillance applications

FLIR Systems introduces the SR-19 and PTZ-19, extremely affordable thermal imaging cameras for security and surveillance applications

Never has thermal imaging been more accessible and affordable. With its latest generation of infrared cameras, world leader FLIR Systems has opened up the wide potential of this versatile technology to all. Typical of this new breed are the SR-19 and PTZ-19 uncooled (solid state) security cameras that provide a brand new weapon for intruder detection and early perimeter protection, for which there simply are no competitors.

The SR-19 and PTZ-19 are thermal imagers that offer exceptional awareness in both day and night applications irrespective of the prevailing light level and weather conditions. They see events that are missed by the naked eye and conventional CCTV cameras especially those in fog, and in smoke. Objects and people can no longer hide in the shadows, forests, bushes. Security staff can see them, monitor them and track them. Unlike other night vision systems that require low amounts of light to generate an image, the SR-19 and PTZ-19 need no light at all.

The SR-19 is a fixed mount thermal imaging camera. Once installed, it is always surveying the same area. The PTZ-19 is mounted on a rugged Pan/Tilt mechanism and can rotate up to +/-180¡Æ horizontally and tilt +/- 45¡Æ vertically. This increases situational awareness since the operator can scan an entire area and look wherever he wants.

The cameras provide reliable round-the-clock awareness without the need for supplementary equipment. The SR-19 is priced at only ¢æ 3,950. It represents exceptional value for money.

Simple plug and play allows quick and easy installation and set-up. The images from the SR-19 and the PTZ-19¡¯s 320 x 240 pixels detector can be displayed on virtually any existing display that accepts composite video.

This new addition to the FLIR Systems¡¯ security and surveillance range of thermal imaging cameras, requires no supplementary lighting which itself is often expensive to install, power and maintain and in some sensitive locations is also considered too intrusive. Furthermore lighting essentially lays out a route of attack for intruders, creating shadows in which to gain access undetected.

The SR-19 and PTZ-19 create a virtual security fence and if integrated into an existing CCTV infrastructure provides early detection and visibility 24/7 all year round.

Employing a proven long-wave 320 x 240 pixels detector, both cameras, equipped with a 19 mm lens, offers a 36¡Æ field of view providing excellent situational awareness.

Thanks to volume production FLIR Systems has been able to commercialize thermal imaging technology effectively making it affordable to a much greater range of potential users. The SR-19 and PTZ-19 are a good example of this trend, offering significant operational benefits at an attractive price.
