Augusta Systems Technologies to enable navy advanced sensor systems

Augusta Systems Inc. technologies will be utilized in the development of advanced imaging sensor systems as part of a US$1 million contract from the U.S. Navys Office of Naval Research.

The sensor systems will be utilized on-board unmanned aircraft and in fixed-location, field deployments for convoy protection, critical infrastructure protection, perimeter security and a host of other uses.

"Utilizing advanced sensor systems, including panoramic visual imaging technologies, on-board unmanned vehicles and in field deployments are important to enhancing the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities of the military," said Patrick Esposito II, president and chief operating officer of Augusta Systems(R). "Our technologies enable on-board and at-point processing and fusion of sensor and imaging data, providing more robust tools for convoy and critical infrastructure protection, among others."

Augusta Systems provides technologies to enable rapid integration, intelligent processing and enterprise utilization of sensor data. The companys SensorPort(TM) and SensorBridge(TM) products will be used in the advanced sensor systems. SensorBridge is a suite of software components for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 that enables rapid integration, intelligent processing, and enterprise utilization of sensor data within an integrated development environment. SensorPort is a reconfigurable sensor network appliance for distributed, intelligent processing at the edge of the network. These technologies enable the most efficient and effective convergence and use of sensor data in numerous applications, including security, monitoring, automation and asset tracking, among others.

Panoramic imaging hardware and software developed by EyeSee360 Inc. will be integrated with the Augusta Systems technologies for use in the advanced sensor systems, as will other technologies, including advanced algorithms for change detection, wireless communications systems and display technologies.

"Our technologies, combined with EyeSee360s imaging technologies and others, dramatically increase the data gathering capabilities of unmanned vehicles and field deployments," said Esposito. "By utilizing components of our SensorPort and SensorBridge products with other customized features, were helping the military to connect panoramic imaging and other sensor data to the network-centric environment and to advance a distributed, intelligent network- centric infrastructure."
