Lashkar-e-Taiba, an Islamic militant organization with links to Al Qaeda, appears to be responsible for the attacks. Raphael Shore, the founder of Clarion Fund and the producer of the award-winning documentary, Obsession: radical Islams war against the west, issued the following statement:
"The tragic slaying of innocent lives in India is a frightening reminder of the destruction that a small band of Islamic militants can inflict anytime, anywhere. The attacks in Mumbai, which appear to be intended to inflame tensions between India and Pakistan, point up the importance of the international community making a shared commitment to combating terrorism.
Unfortunately, with Americas economy slumping, there are some in the nation who would like to wish away the terrorist threat and move on to other issues. It is imperative that President-elect Obama and the impressive team of national security advisors he is announcing remain resolute in leading the global war against terrorism. The radical Islamists, who have tentacles in every corner of the world, would like nothing more than for the United States to let down its guard."
