BitArmor jons PCI Security Vendor Alliance

Security epertise will enhance industry groups depth of knowledge

BitArmor Systems announced it has joined the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Vendor Alliance.  The company¡¯s expertise in data security and encryption technology will add depth to the alliance¡¯s knowledge base, and will help member organizations better understand how technology can protect their data assets.

The PCI Security Vendor Alliance (SVA) was formed by leading security vendors to help members of the payment card industry achieve compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard, a global benchmark that guides organizations in protecting sensitive data and reducing the risk associated with security breaches. Member companies include retailers, e-commerce companies, financial institutions, payment processors, point of sale (POS) vendors, and any other organizations that handle cardholder data.

"Weve spent the last three years developing cutting-edge software that encrypts and tracks sensitive data, protecting it from abuse by unauthorized users, regardless of where it is stored or transmitted," said Patrick McGregor, president and CEO of BitArmor Systems.  "We learned a tremendous amount in the process about what companies need to do to keep their data safe, particularly in regard to personal information such as credit card information."

"Distributed enterprise encryption is playing an increasingly powerful role in the payment card industry, by helping companies protect and encrypt cardholder data across its entire lifecycle, from POS card swipe through processing and deletion," said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group.  "Enterprise encryption is a strong tool for companies seeking compliance with the PCI DSS."

Introduced last year, the BitArmor Security Suite, BitArmors flagship product, is a distributed enterprise encryption software solution that helps both large and small enterprises to protect their sensitive data assets.  Its advanced encryption technology secures data in flight over both wired and wireless networks, and stored on personal computers, removable media, servers, and storage devices throughout the enterprise.  In addition, BitArmor Security Suite offers comprehensive data lifecycle management functionality to address PCI DSS requirements for retailers, financial institutions and other organizations with automatic data classification, retention policies, and programmatic data destruction for any data under protection.
