Unisys and LEGIC¢ç enter into partnership

LEGIC Identsystems Ltd., an international provider of contactless smart card technology for personal identification, is extending its partner network. With the systems integrator, Unisys AG, the company gains one of the leading IT service providers in the field of access control and identity management.

From now on, Unisys will integrate LEGIC contactless technology into complex security projects. Products from the LEGIC advant series will be used for personal identification solutions.  For Unisys, the multi-application capability and modular expansion possibilities of LEGIC technology were decisive factors for the licence partnership.

Philippe Spuehler, Director Business Development at Unisys Switzerland, explains the background, ¡°Our collaboration with LEGIC started with a comprehensive access and security concept that we were developing for our end customers.  The challenge was to fulfil very different requirements using innovative smart card technology, such as logical and physical access based on biometric characteristics, time & attendance and e-payment, giving priority to security.  At the same time, we wanted a simple, scalable and future-proof platform.  LEGIC Technology optimally supports access control and other personal identification service provider applications.¡±

LEGIC is delighted with this partnership, too.  Dr. Otto Eggimann, Vice President Sales & Business Development at the Swiss company hopes that the partnership will lead to development of worldwide business activities, ¡°With Unisys, we gain another internationally recognised partner in the field of multi-applications, identity management and converged access for our growing network.  We combine our own know-how with the vast experience of Unisys in the conception and implementation of comprehensive security solutions -- the winners are the end customers.¡±
