Electrone Europe extends its CCTV product range with new controller

Electrone Europe, custom-designed IT peripherals vendor, has today announced an extension of its CCTV product range with the launch of the Electrone System200 Joystick. This USB joystick control console is available in two models. One model works as a standard triple-axis joystick and a second has been specially designed to emulate a mouse.

By enabling mouse emulation, Electrone has designed a joystick that plugs into any mouse-compatible CCTV controller via a USB port. This means that the unit will work with camera management systems and digital video recorders such as the Bosch DiBos series of DVRs, where a mouse is used to control the operation of the cameras. This enables CCTV systems that use a mouse to implement a legacy joystick controller, thus enabling greater control and removing the need for total operator re-training.

Stuart Thorn, chief executive of Electrone Europe, comments, ¡°Historically CCTV operators have used joysticks and our unique product¡¯s mouse emulation enables an operator to control a mouse-only system, using their preferred control method.¡±

Electrone Europe has identified a strong demand for a joystick product to work in conjunction with mouse-controlled camera systems. The device can also carry out other mouse-enabled management functions.

¡°There has simply been no way of attaching a joystick to these systems until now. Electrone is enabling camera operators to buy legacy products to work with their existing systems yet allow operators to use the device they are most familiar with,¡± added Thorn.

The triple-axis joystick enables the operator to pan, tilt and zoom security cameras, and has two buttons that emulate the buttons on a mouse.

Optional extras for both models include six programmable soft keys at the base of the joystick. A future model will also toggle from mouse emulation to standard joystick mode.

The Electrone System200 Joystick is fully compliant with the strict RoHS environmental standards and the product can also be used for a wide range of applications outside the security market, including mechanical control, industrial control and video editing.

Electrone is expanding across Europe and is now looking to extend its network of resellers for its rapidly developing suite of products.
