Nitgen¡¯s new PIV-certified fingerprint scanner available now

Fulcrum Biometrics, a trusted provider and global distributor of biometric identification technologies, today announced the availability of a new PIV-certified single finger scanner by Nitgen. The eNBioScan-F fingerprint scanner, available from Fulcrum Biometrics, is one of only a handful of fingerprint scanners worldwide that have met the FBI¡¯s stringent image quality specifications as outlined for the United States government¡¯s Personal Identity Verification program (PIV).

The PIV certification, also known as FIPS 201, was developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to satisfy Homeland Security requirements for the authentication of all Federal employees and contractors who have access to high security facilities.

¡°The PIV certification from the FBI assures our customers that the Nitgen eNBioScan-F meets some of the strictest standards for image quality and reliability across a full range of environments and applications,¡± said Ken Nosker, President of Fulcrum Biometrics. ¡°We are pleased to offer the eNBioScan-F and other scanners from Nitgen because they consistently demonstrate high quality at some of the lowest price points on the market.¡±

The Nitgen eNBioScan-F scanner offers a wide, 1.2 inch fingerprint input screen to acquire fingerprint information with a high degree of detail and accuracy. The new design significantly reduces the number of errors that tend to occur with smaller screens and provides an excellent recognition rate even when fingers are damp or wet. The eNBioScan-F is available with a USB 2.0 connection, drivers for Windows¢ç operating systems and comes with demo software in the included CDROM.

Because of its excellent price/performance ratio, the eNBioScan-F is suitable for both small and large-scale projects, from basic time and attendance systems to security-critical applications such as immigration and passport control.
