It is a controlled descent device providing an alternate means of escape in an emergency, when the traditional egress routes are blocked. SAFEXIT uses the patented technology of Doublexit Rescue & Evacuation Solutions, Ltd. and was invented following the tragedy of 9/11. Using a cable and harness system it safely lowers the user at a controlled speed of approximately 3 feet per second. Each end of the multi-fiber covered steel cable has a harness, allowing the second person to begin their decent after the first person has reached the ground safely. The process continues until all occupants of the building are safely evacuated.
