Two-factor ID reader launched

Precise Biometrics has developed the Precise 250 MC reader which combines the two best authentication methods -- fingerprints and smart cards.

With a robust and user-friendly design, the Precise 250 MC is durable.  The reader is typically deployed in environments where a large number of people pass through and where demands on efficient and secure verification is high.  With a large sensor area Precise 250 MC offers ease-of-use to inexperienced users.

Used together with the widely deployed Precise Match-on-Card technology the Precise 250 MC enables you to both store and match the fingerprint directly on the card, thus eliminating the uncertainty of matching the fingerprint on a network connected device.  Users integrity always remains intact because the fingerprint template never leaves the card.  In this way users never need to feel concerned that their fingerprints could be stolen or abused. Replacing the PIN with fingerprints provides efficiency and increased security.

Supporting the ANSI 378 template standard, the Precise 250 MC is designed to fully comply with US governmental requirements for HSPD-12 and PIV.
