A security startup is playing with new strategies, and its play looks impressive. Declaring that it¡¯s different and distinguished from others from the very beginning, the new security player is getting ready to win with multiple industry firsts in its arsenal. Jeanny Lim, Editor of SecurityWorld INT¡¯L, looks at the strategies and technologies i-TECH Information Technology touts.

When there is a car accident, soon or later DVRs installed in the cars involved in the accident will be able to give you a whole picture of what happened and help identify the cause of the tragedy. DVRs built into cars will record it all -- from images captured by cameras to driving records such as speed, distance and reaction time; physical parameters including humidity, impact, and air pressure; and even traffic signals. Therefore, when an accident occurs on the road, you are able to find out the cause of the accident by checking the data stored in car DVRs. However, the car DVRs currently on the market can only record and monitor images fed by cameras. They are just the video recorders installed in cars without anything to do with driving. But, a South Korean company will soon change the way we use car DVRs.
Pushing the Envelope in DVR Technology

i-TECH Information Technology, with 13 years of experience in electronic communications technology, began developing mobile DVRs and car DVRs in 2004 and recently introduced their first mobile DVRs to the market and will soon showcase their car DVRs as well. The DVRs produced by i-TECH Information Technology include some industry-first features.
While most other car DVRs use videotapes instead of hard disk drives because hard disk drives are inherently more fragile and can be damaged while the car is running, i-TECH Information Technology has adopted a hard disk drive for their car DVRs after they resolved the issue of hard disk drive durability.
Unlike most other car DVRs that only allows for monitoring and recording, the car DVRs from i-TECH Information Technology can not only record and monitor in real time, but provide driving records and check the factors involved in triggering problems. The car DVRs with such surveillance and car safety combined functions are a milestone achievement in the security industry.
And the video chips used in the car and mobile DVRs from i-TECH Information Technology are not the usual DVR video chips, but Oxford chips, which are for camcorders. Use of Oxford chips in DVRs drastically increased video image quality, making the DVRs from i-TECH Information Technology so special.
The car DVR is not the only innovation the company has made. The mobile DVRs i-TECH Information Technology has recently debuted that you can install anywhere and take with you wherever you want, are expected to send tremors through the market. The mobile DVRs can be transformed into a home DVR, a car DVR, a shop DVR, you name it, according to your needs. And you can even use them as camcorders outdoor because of the Oxford video chips -- which provide noticeably superior image quality -- used in the mobile DVRs.
Young but Wise
Although they joined the security industry a little bit late, i-TECH Information Technology is creating new markets rather than competing in an already crowded market. By viewing things from a different perspective, thinking unthinkable, trying what seemed impossible and delving into the very essence of what¡¯s needed, the young security player has been able to differentiate itself in the highly competitive security market and draw huge industry attention. ¡°Is a late beginner, we don¡¯t want to produce the same old products with the same old technologies. That doesn¡¯t work in this cutthroat environment where only a few will survive. We wanted to be different from the beginning and produce novel products that were needed to make our lives safer and more convenient, but had not been available,¡±said Eric Ham, President of i-TECH Information Technology.

Love Calls Rushing In
The creativity, innovation and pioneering spirit of i-TECH Information Technology seem to have been recognized by the industry, quite quickly. Orders have been increasing -- these days flooding in -- keeping the entire staff at i-TECH Information Technology busy around the clock. The one-channel mobile DVRs from i-TECH Information Technology are captivating casino and ATM security companies in Japan, Australia, the U.K., the Netherlands and the U.S., and the car DVRs are making auto makers, bus companies and providers of car audios, in-car navigators and car monitors around the world, crave for them. The security startup is making rapid strides to get ready for a flood of business coming up.
