In today¡¯s world, securing state, municipal, provincial and federal facilities has become an immediate priority. In Alaska, PCSC authorized dealer, Alcan Electric & Engineering, Inc. was challenged with providing a complete solution to the police department that would include access control, intercom and a CCTV system. The design requirements called for a combination of multiple relays, add-on cards and running more wire than a dealer would want to imagine. Alcan Electric was faced with one small question, ¡°How would they design a solution that effectilvely integrates all three systems to work as one?¡±
Utilize the power of PCSC¡¯s enterprise management solution software, LINC-PLUS. Designed to integrate, control and manage electronic security components and subsystems from multiple manufacturers into a single, functionally enhanced centrally controlled information system.
Simplify the project by dropping the need for the custom electric driven relays, CCTV matrix switchers, four or more monitors, and relay cards for the Aiphone intercom. The added benefit is that this will reduce cost of system add-ons and maintenance. Once in place, this robust three system combination will be able to call any field phone from the main desk, record CCTV images 24/7, and display live images from the field when calls come in to the station. The end users now have a touch screen to pull up the intercom function, CCTV video and door functions. With the help of PCSC, Alcan and the local branch of Anixter, a solution was found and implemented. The use of LiNC-PLUS and the expert knowledge of Alcan Electric¡¯s security department enabled them to eliminate four relays, matrix switchers and the need for custom enclosures. Not to mention the ¡°old school¡± methology of wiring that would be required. With LiNC-PLUS, only one relay is required in the access control system.
