The concept was to apply leading edge COTS (Current Off The Shelf) tools used for Command and Control to support the general session meetings at the January 2008 S&T Stakeholders Conference West.
This collaborative effort resulted in THE DHS S&T COMMAND CENTER -- a 1,000 person command briefing environment boasting 24.9 million pixels of information with the ability to show up to 36 simultaneous media sources managed by a state-of-the-art control station.
The technologies that were brought together included a 3-screen command wall with extensive ¡°source windowing¡± capabilities allowing many computers and media feeds to be selected and displayed using a central command station. The sources could all be accessed and displayed as information windows placed anywhere on any of the screens.
RGB Spectrum¡¯s DGy¢â Models 201x and 401x now offer an optional capability to simultaneously record to the internal hard disk drive and an external network attached storage device. This exclusive dual recording feature provides automatic backup of recordings, providing convenience and peace of mind.
The DGy Automatic Backup option also has the flexibility to take the internal removable hard disk to another DGy unit at a remote location, leaving the first unit with access to the network drive. It is available for DGy 201x and 401x models equipped with the Remote Disk Mount (NFS) option.
The DGy recorder/codec, compresses, stores, replays, and streams imagery at up to 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution. It supports computer, radar, sonar, FLIR, X-Ray, HD, and stereo audio. All DGy models can record 1600 x 1200 resolution inputs at up to 20 frames per second or 1280 x 1024 resolution inputs up to 30 fps.
Governments around the world are continually investing in new technologies and strategies for managing public safety. An example of a modern command and control center has recently been completed in China. The room features a large 1x3 rear-projection, edge blended video wall capable of displaying a variety of visual resources depending on the situation at hand. The wall can be reconfigured for various situations including public safety, traffic control, sporting and public events, weather and natural disasters.
