In the U.K., Kings Waterfront is a ¡Ì142m development on the banks of the River Mersey which will transform King¡¯s Dock into the Liverpool Arena and Convention Centre. The project will feature a 10,000 capacity performance area and exhibition resources to rival the NEC and ExCel. It is expected that the venue will host events from rock concerts to trade shows, children¡¯s entertainment to international sport including tennis, boxing and gymnastics.
Supporting the complex is a 1,600-space multi-story car park for which Conway Security Products has supplied over a hundred of its camera housings. The Conway housings are from the EH range of external units which are being used alongside a variety of internal and external vandal-resistant models.
Much of the car park¡¯s CCTV system is based on products from plettac. The end-user will benefit from plettac¡¯s cameras and the company¡¯s P.O.S.A. open security architecture which is the first PC security system based on truly networked CCTV management. There will be remote monitoring using IP transmission from plettac¡¯s sentiO DVRs, and parties including car park managers, Liverpool City Council staff and the Liverpool Constabulary will review footage as required. The remote monitoring will be complemented by a manned local control room.
The cameras will use Pentax 6-12mm lenses, the focal range having been specified to provide optimum images for ANPR usage, plate recognition being an important aspect of security at the car park.
