Icx expands global border security presence

Middle East deployment showcases proven solutions.

ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, announced today the global expansion of its deployment of advanced border security solutions.

ICx has been awarded a contract to deliver several Sky Watch towers equipped with industry-leading DefendIR mid-range thermal imagers for the first phase of a border protection project with a U.S. ally in the Middle East.  The Sky Watch is a self-contained, highly mobile platform that can support a broad range of sensors, communication equipment, and other surveillance or border security equipment.  More than 100 Sky Watch towers currently support surveillance efforts along U.S. borders.

"Our tower, sensor and software solutions are deployed by many border security forces and utilized daily with proven results," said David J. Smith, vice president, Surveillance Division, ICx Technologies.  "As we extend our global reach to critical regions outside the Americas, our solutions will continue to prove their durability, reliability, and a key security asset."

DefendIR imagers can see in complete darkness and through a multitude of environmental conditions including extreme temperature, smoke, rain, dust, and dense fog.  They are highly modular and configurable with different lenses, sensors, and controllers to match mission requirements, and can be integrated with CCD imagers for reliable surveillance in all conditions.
