The resignation was effective immediately.

"Admiral Blair has served our board with distinction and dedication since 2003 and we thank him for his many contributions to Tyco."
Admiral Blair joined Tyco’s board of directors in 2003 and previously served as president and chief executive officer of The Institute for Defense Analyses, a federally funded research and development center. Admiral Blair retired as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Pacific Command in 2002, after more than 34 years of service in the United States Navy.
