How would you like to describe Samsung Techwin?

Samsung Techwin¡¯s Optics and Digital Imaging business has 30 years of experience and expertise in optical science and image processing technologies.  In the security industry, Samsung Techwin, a technology-oriented company with excellent management team, is well known for high-quality and innovative video surveillance products.  Blessed with one of the world¡¯s top R&D teams, Samsung Techwin will keep on offering a complete product portfolio to the global security market.

Please tell us what has been your biggest technological breakthrough, which contributed to the advancement of the security industry.

Samsung Techwin has been developing some of the core components of video surveillance equipment including zoom lenses and DSP chips, and producing products that outperform those of others.  And we have supplied the security industry with key modules of superior quality, thus expediting technological advancement and innovation.

Where does Samsung Techwin put its focus on this year, in terms of both business and technology development?

We are going to expand our product portfolio further this year.  Some innovative products are in the pipeline.  We will develop the fourth-generation DSP chip (W4, SV-4) and launch surveillance cameras using this technology.  And we will introduce D1-grade DVRs and new network cameras.  All of these new product additions are expected to contribute to our bottom line and expand our market share.  Additionally, we plan to develop an intelligent algorithm and implement it in every product we produce.

According to a recent report, with the global economy getting strong and crime rates increasingly rising, global demands for security systems and products are expected to grow.  How do you see the global CCTV market this year?

The video surveillance market grows about 15% every year.  This year we will witness both analogue and network-based video surveillance markets grow.  When it comes to DVR, full D1-grade products will take larger market share.  On the IP video side, more network cameras will adopt intelligent algorithms such as motion detection & tracking and face recognition.  And mega-grade products will enter the market this year.

In this highly competitive marketplace, how does Samsung Techwin differentiate itself?

Samsung Techwin¡¯s video surveillance equipment business supplies total security systems to the world and strives to impress the customers with four differentiators -- unmatched product quality, cutting-edge technology, outstanding after-sales service and customer-centered management.  These characteristics of our company are what makes our customers keep coming back for more, we believe.
