Thanks to Security Sales & Integration magazine, the Sammy Awards featured a new Mission 500 video before a standing room only crowd that gave attendees a better understanding of the organization¡¯s mission and several on the spot donations.
ISC organizers also did their part by providing booth space. Mission 500 volunteers assisted by Lisa Torres, area director for World Vision, were able to hand out information from a tabletop display located at the main entrance of the exhibition.
Additionally, ISC organizers supported a sweepstakes drawing that was held with prizes sponsored by ISC, Panasonic and Bosch. The winner¡¯s names were drawn on Friday April 4th at the show. The winners were: Spencer Sterling of Williams Electronics, LLC in Angola, Indiana who won the first prize of a trip to New York for two. Ellen King of ASIS International based in Virginia takes home a Panasonic 42¡± plasma TV, and Ed Michelson of MG Security Sy stems, Inc. in San Diego, won a Bosch Power box.
During ISC, cash donations of over US$2,500.00 were raised, and eight more children were sponsored by individuals attending the show. Together with another US$5,000.00 from an anonymous donor in April, this increases the number of sponsored children to 180 in just over a year.
¡°The ISC events¡¯ support of Mission 500 allows us an opportunity to give back to those in poverty,¡± said Ed Nichols, industry vice president of the ISC portfolio of events. ¡°We are proud to support such a well-respected organization that is changing the lives of children in need around the world.¡±
The goal of Mission 500 is to sponsor 500 needy children through World Vision¡¯s child sponsorship program. It is a volunteer-driven initiative, and one hundred percent of the funds raised are channeled directly to World Vision. The globally renowned humanitarian organization provides food, clothing and education to those truly in need.
