U.K. Biometrics Market: Growing Demands for User-friendly Biometrics

Better identity checking is a key element in the global fight against identity theft and other crimes. Today, biometrics, used within an effective overall security systems, helps ensure that each person¡¯s true identity is properly checked. In particular, facial recognition is a quick, effective, secure and reliable means of establishing, searching and verifying a person¡¯s identity. A simple camera observes each face at the point of entry and the system checks it against a claimed identity, all within a fraction of a second.

Can you please tell us what should be the No. 1 priority of OmniPerception this year?  OmniPerception¡¯s top priority for this year is a drive for increased sales both in the U.K. home market and internationally.

Please tell us if there has been any notable achievement OmniPerception has made recently.   A particular source of satisfaction for us is the wide-spread adoption of our FIND compliant facial imaging software by U.K. police forces. OmniPerception is proud of its contribution to this aspect of policing in Great Britain.

What in your opinion are some of the key technology trends in the biometrics industry?  What is OmniPerception doing in this regard?   Two key trends in the industry are the rising relevance of facial biometrics and the increasing recognition of the power of multi-modal approaches in high security areas.  OmniPerception is focusing strongly on these two areas, to deliver efficient, user-friendly and cost-effective solutions for customers.

What do you think are the greatest challenges in the current U.K. biometrics market?  How does OMNIPERCEPTION address them?

The two main challenges in the U.K. biometrics market as a whole go hand in hand and are as follows:

A. the need and demand for better and more user-friendly biometric technology and products; and

B. the stimulation and achievement of greater customer acceptance of practical biometric solutions for everyday use.

OmniPerception has a unique range of technology and products ideally suited to addressing both of these key issues.

What kinds of products are in great demand in the U.K. biometrics market?   In a nut-shell efficient, user-friendly and cost-effective products that are fit for purpose.

Is modern facial biometrics capable of quickly and accurately identifying a face in the crowd (e.g., in CCTV footage)?  "No. It¡¯s not, but it will be, and probably quite soon; from a British technology company of course."
